Experience 0101 - Homies In Action

The rifts (well the locations on the map where you start them) in the simulation have a cool techno-visual. They also impact any of the NPC models that walk by it. While in other games one might think there are glitches in the models/code, Saints Row 4 intentionally has the models completely break down visually... with their geometry having just about any problem imaginable (many of which I have seen before while developing games).

It would be neat if these rifts actually sucked your character in...
There are huge red orbs all over the city that are shields maintained by a number of generators. Disabling the generators is easy but you have to clear the immediate area of enemies before jamming your fist into the box destroy the generator. Usually each generator is guarded by a specific number of enemies so after you take out a few it's fairly obvious that you have a safe chance to break the generator and move on.

Who needs air support when I AM THE AIR FORCE.
To help make things a little easier (and minimize the bullets/lasers hitting me in the back while punching generators) I recruited some homies. My gang style is all military. They are fairly smart when it comes to picking up new weapons --- "bigger equals better." One of them picked up a rocket launcher for a short while which lead to some very explosive battles as they blasted everything in site. In doing so I recall catching on fire due to some exploded cars nearby.

The hero never dresses like the sidekick!
Just like in America the President and Vice President (and some marines) doing their daily drive-by through the city...

Ooooo blurry must mean fast!
At the beginning of the game I attempted to take out one of the orbs but was taking too much gun fire to survive for long. Now with homies and health upgrades things are a bit easier.

An aerial attack on a large platform holding a generator.
Traveling by car or flying vehicle is a thing of the past with leaping super powers! Though on occasion I will hop in a car there's little point. Even the flying vehicles fee slower than just bounding across the city. It's a very different experience not driving very much.

Sky Walker
One of the random activities is to survive waves of enemies. These waves vary in content from mascots to aliens, to police to "weirdo" mode which uses the same glitchy approach as previously mentioned. In glitch mode even the cars show up in weird states like upside down or with the roof inside the vehicle... I've even seen the occasional character with huge bug eyes.

Weirdo virus injection with glitchy mascots.
... probably about time for an outfit change and maybe take on some actual missions.
