Experience 0110 - CID and MOM

Note: I have changed the jpeg compression to be a bit higher quality as the images in the first few posts didn't look as nice as those I captured for SR3.

It was time for another outfit change... Again I went a bit conservative on the look instead of 90% of the outfits in the game... She's a bit more of a street fighter now.

One of the least revealing outfits in the Leather & Lace store.
I started out with some activity clearing. In particular the Speed Rift activity is one I find confusing and uninteresting. The main problem with this activity is that it plays like another game. By another game I mean the controls and expected results don't match the rest of the game. It's like playing an arcade game in the middle of my super hero game without much guidance. You can fall off and hit walls and the mini-game just seems to move along without issue. The activity is not exactly fun and does nothing to help practice the usage of all your crazy abilities.

Yawn... this mini-game mode is slippery and does not operate like the rest of the game.
Up next I took on an actual mission. The mission consisted of picking up the fire blast ability. I am unsure how useful fire blast is in comparison to telekinesis and freezing (another ability I stumbled upon in this session). I have guns that fire at a much higher rate than the fire blast ability...

Blast training simulation. Apparently the aliens don't like to be on fire.
I looked through the missions and saw one was on the ship: simply talking to people. Apparently I missed out on a number of freebie upgrades by simply talking to characters as you progress through the game. I talked with the VP and Kinzie numerous times receiving all sorts of upgrades that probably would have helped a lot!

Apparently the being making me perform all kinds of weird things in the rift is named CID. Kinzie found some way to free CID... the main character (much like myself) went along with the ride and didn't ask too many questions other than where to point my weapons. The mission initially indicated waiting 60+ minutes while CID is transferred to a stolen entity. I knew immediately the designers weren't serious as this isn't some "hunt" form a Final Fantasy game. Instead Kinzie made it clear she could speed things up. Each time she sped things up a significant amount of time is cut down. In the process I had to move to different areas and protect CID. With the freeze ability it was fairly easy to defend against flying things. Even the larger UFO vehicles will just froze, fell to the ground, and finally EXPLODED. The mission was reasonably easy and ended with a minor boss fight that was nothing new at this point in my progress through the game.

These things are like video game bats -- very annoying.
At the conclusion of the mission I was rewarded with a new power: telekinesis.

I have the power! (of telekinesis, fire, and ice!)
After clearing the mission and receiving telekinesis a couple of new activities popped up on the map. One such activity is the Genki activity for SR4: Mind Over Murder. This activity consist of tossing the required object into given points. This was a fun activity and actually forces you to use the telekinesis power and think about how it works (like the ability to toss/catch things while in the air).

Mind Over Murder is a lot easier and more fun than the Genki stuff from SR3.
Another activity that appeared was soccer-shooter (just called Telekinesis Rift). This activity requires you to fire a certain colored object at a matching colored target. To make things ever-so-slightly harder the objects are fired at you and can explode on impact. Also for fun the targets can change color as you play. This is another good telekinesis practice activity (that seems a bit too similar to Mind Over Murder).

Soccer mini-game.

Oh that? It's just a regular thing around this neighborhood.
TK Mayhem is a an attempt at a mini-game that forces you to cause damage using physical objects and telekinesis. Unfortunately I almost immediately found the cheat by accidentally just keeping the object "held" and running around the map (in particular down sidewalks). You are supposed to pick up the object and fire it off at things so it bounces around... but I found just keeping it held resulted in a lot more points and a lot quicker. Like insurance fraud in SR4, this activity is a cake walk due to the abilities.

Gaming the game is my favorite!
Recover indeed!

I think it's going to take a lot more than "Space" to recover from this accident.
Probably time for another outfit change...
